Candidates must currently live in California to be considered for the position. Due to the travel requirements, candidates must live within a short driving distance to a major airport. By major airport we mean a large metropolitan city airport - this is to avoid the need for numerous connecting flights when using a smaller local or regional airports and long drives to the airport.

We are conducting a unique search for an experienced acute care Infection Preventionist to become a Medical Science Liaison for the global leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of quality Infection Prevention and Control products. In this role you will work in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Affairs, Training and Regional Director. This involves working closely with key accounts within assigned territory and supporting field sales staff with all clinical affairs and advanced technical support needs. You will be expected to conduct education and in-service sessions as well as participate in regional meetings, trade shows and sales calls as needed (performing as a subject matter expert not a sales person). Your field representatives will look to you as the subject matter expert to enhance the image of the product line with your background in Infection Prevention and Control. You will be provided with a laptop, PDA, as well as a car allowance and will work out of your home office located in your assigned territory. Key responsibilities will include: Serving as the primary Medical Affairs contact with customers within established territory; Scheduling and performing in-service and continuing education courses to existing customers on focus product use with the purpose of expanding use within departments; Contributing medical and scientific content expertise to the development and execution of regional and national educational activities; Developing and fostering relationships and programs with key national accounts; Supporting field sales representatives and national accounts through dissemination of scientific, clinical, and pertinent research provided; Preparing and delivering clinical presentations, collateral, and education materials targeting clinicians in customer facilities, Attending APIC chapter, regional and trade shows within assigned region; Keeping abreast of new developments in competitive product information, and trends or changes in infection prevention and control.
Our ideal candidate will have the following: Acute care hospital infection control experience required; A Bachelors degree; RN (Registered Nurse) if applicable or MT (ASCP) or an MPH with a minimum of 2+ years related experience; CIC (Certified Infection Control) by CBIC is preferred; Superb verbal and written communication skills; Excellent people skills and basic computer literacy. This position requires up to 75% travel with more localized travel by car (car allowance provided). Candidates must also be flexible regarding travel to attend strategy meetings, industry conventions, organizational meetings (APIC, etc.).
